(no subject)

We are taking turns hanging out with Monty. She seems fine. We are still uncertain in the novelty of a dog who doesn't immediately try to rip her sutures out the moment we turn our backs. Monty doesn't seem to care. She's playing with toys again, almost frolicking in her cow-like fashion chasing them.
I cut down a bunch of things in the back yard that were threatening to become trees, and cut a large limb off the Japanese Lantern tree, where it had split in one of our weird sudden snow loading situations, then chopped that and two old christmas trees that had been hanging out by the compost pit into firewood. We are prepared for Second Winter.
The whole front yard was full of dead, dried milkweed and carrots. Carrot flowers are particularly spiky. I tore the whole works out (virtually no actual root structure on the carrots) and piled them in the increasingly huge pile of brush. It's past time to pull the chipper/shredder out and run all that through it.

Both the wheelbarrow and the nice dolly have flat tires that I keep having to pump up. It's such a hassle getting those tires off the rims, compared to bike tires, that I keep delaying patching them.

I made a huge chunk of progress on welding up a frame for the twin electric fans for the Spitfire, to replace the horrible and inadequate single fan held in place by a bit of hacksawed-out shopping cart, that was in the car when it showed up. For right now they'll stay on the under-the-dash on/off switch, but at some point after I machine a replacement thermostat housing that integrates a mounting point for an electric thermostat, I'll stick the smart fan controller in there. (That'll also provide one required signal for the electronic ignition replacement.)

A ton of other projects in progress right now. I'd hoped to get about 3x as much done this weekend, but I'm doing okay as it is.
