Local taco joint menu. Denver is now a gathering place for people interested in insect-based foodstuff. This is maybe a kilometer from the place rebeccmeister went to have cricket-based food when she was in town.


My evening. I got a program working in one language, so now I'm translating it to another, because it's what our automated test systems use. Neither is a decent language (by which I mean C.)

Let me point out that I *foreheadslap* about people getting obsessed with crickets as a food source. Because they aren't currently regulated by the FDA as food, there are a wide range of estimates about their total protein content. They are also no more efficient to rear in large numbers than poultry.

I guess they're all right as a novelty food item. I haven't eaten mealworms but I suspect mealworms taste better.

Chapulines are a traditional food in parts of Mexico. Hipsters are just Columbusing them. (I've had them, now I can say I've had them, it wasn't that interesting one way or another IMO).

I like crickets. Not that I've had them more than once, at the annual insect feast an entomologist colleague ran at Albion College.

I'm surprised that the salsa is more expensive than the meat & insects. They must make it by hand with good fresh ingredients. Yep, looking at the rest of the items, it's definitely a fancier place than most of the Mexican restaurants around here.

I haz pack of sour cream & garlic crickets. Have not tried. Not sure I'll ever be that drunk.
