Jul. 11th, 2018 09:16 pmToday was a lot.
I got up early enough to go over to a friend's and take him to the hospital for his 5 am surgery, came home while that was going on and printed off some more stuff for casting, went back over and picked him up and took him home and hung out talking for a while, then drove up to work.
Where I tried to simultaneously develop software for talking to a new piece of hardware, and worked on the schematic and pcb design for a coworker's new somewhat complicated project, while fielding a WHOLE LOT of questions from my very tense coworker about a project I kind of dumped on him on Monday.
My manager's wife took the good car to work, because their other car isn't working well and she's pregnant, so he biked into work. (Which he does most days.) She got a flat tire, and got help to change the tire but was then driving around on one of those ridiculous little spares in their brand-new mercedes, so he told her to drive small back roads to keep the speed down, and that led to her getting stuck in an enormous traffic jam when she had to pee desperately, so she phoned him up and yelled at him in five languages. (He says this is the problem with growing up near someone in India: more languages for yelling.) So he was facing a fast ride home in 100F weather to pick up the kinda dubious car and go see if he could help or at least share the experience, and I sort of bullied him into letting me drive him home.
Then I got caught in the side-effects of the enormous traffic jam she was stuck in, so I got back to home-vicinity really late.
I was supposed to make trout for dinner tonight. Usually every supermarket around here has trout. Today, after going to three and finding them all out, I gave up and bought a big chunk of salmon instead.
It was so good.
